Rejoice Ngobeni
Some people quietly shape a community — Rejoice Ngobeni is one of those people.
Born in N’wamitwa and raised in a home where the door was always open, Rejoice is the youngest of eight children. Her mother, a housewife, and her father, who worked at the Phalaborwa Mining Company, raised their family to love their neighbours, strangers, and friends alike. It’s a way of living that has never left her.
She is a girl from the land,
and from the village
Rejoice attended school locally, completed her matric at Bankuna Secondary School, and later went on to study Human Resource Management at Vaal Tech. It was during that time that she met her husband, Isack. They settled near Risaba Crossing and built a life together, raising two children, Shaun and Somisa.
Today, Shaun is studying Engineering at UCT, and Somisa is studying Teaching at TUT — something Rejoice speaks about with pride.
Her life hasn’t been without loss. Isack passed away in 2016, but she has continued to show up for her family and her community. Rejoice is a trained pastor and an active leader in her church, DBGIM (Don’t Blame God International Ministries). She is a girl from the land, and from the village, and plays a vital role. She is a connector of people. She carries the same care into her work at Kaross and within the Kaross Foundation, where she helps coordinate the Early Childhood Development Programme.
Since joining Kaross in 2005, Rejoice has become an integral part of the Kaross family. While her role is Studio Shop Assistant, her reach stretches far beyond that. She is a listener, a connector, a steady presence — a mother to all.
When she speaks about Kaross, she says:
“Kaross is the heart of the community, like a mother looking after us all.”
And if that is her view — then she is, in many ways, the embodiment of it.
