Kaross, the Foundation, and the Nkuna Story
During our visit, we had the opportunity to share with Trecia how her work is directly connected to the opportunity Herold now has through the Foundation. Herold gently commented, "I think she’s starting to realise how important her work is."
It was a grounded moment.
Hilda Rikhotso - November 2019
Hilda will be recognized as a top embroider this year, after working for Kaross for over 20 years, her skills are invaluable. November 2018 - Jane Mabunda
The love and respect they have for one another was my first impression when I went to sit with them on their porch. Watch brought tea, while their neighbour quickly came to take their only grandchild from his grandmothers’ arms. The little baby is called Progress Mboni Diploma Nkuna. With names like that he can only have a prosperous future. He is obviously the apple of his grand parents’ eyes.
Kaross Featured Embroiderer for May 2018: Winnie & Traiza
Today I am inspired by the bond between two women. There is something incredibly strong about being an African woman.
Women whose reality is to raise their children alone, while they either wait on their husbands to return from remote employment, or in other cases, women who was never legally married to the father of their children. To the outsider these women seem to never be afraid. They accept their harsh circumstances and carry on with the work of the day.
